James B Murphy II exhibits at the Lyme Art Association and the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He studied classical drawing and painting with Diane Aeschliman, Deane Keller and Everett Raymond Kinstler. As a playwright, he is the author of Promise, a contemporary drama set to go into production, and The Grand Design, a new comedy about Leonardo da Vinci. Other plays include Seaside Dive produced by Guardian Spring Productions, Toronto , in association with the University of Toronto ; Caroleena produced as a public workshop by Stages Repertory, Houston , Texas ; and Jay’s Ecstacy produced as a public workshop by The George Street Playhouse, New Brunswick, New Jersey . Mentors and collaborators include Gian Carlo Menotti, Charles Wadsworth, Rob Bundy , Brian Richmond, David Ferry, Roxanne Moffitt and Kimberly Canning . A graduate of Princeton University with a degree in History, he studied acting with, Meisner protégé, Fred Kareman and voice with Antonia Lavanne. As a journalist, Murphy wrote more than one hundred articles for TIME Magazine, including the cover story on the discovery of the wreck of the Titanic, and interviewed many extraordinary people, from James Watson and Francis Crick, the discoverers of DNA, to Don King, the legendary boxing promoter. He is represented in Simpson’s Contemporary Quotations.
